About Me
Hello, I’m Anna and am trained in early years. I am a nanny but have previously worked in other early years environments in the UK and other parts of the world. I believe children learn best through play based activities and experiences. I love planning the activites but the best part is seeing the activity in action and the memories these can create. There are many ways you can provide learning opportunities for your children, children you care for, or in your early years setting. One thing to remember is all children learn at different paces and every child is unique they will have their own interests and their own likes and dislikes. Play is great for all aged children but especially important for children in the early years (under 5). It helps them develop in all areas, learn about the world around them, and most importantly prepare them for things they might encounter in the future. I have an Instagram account with ideas of other activites, link is at the bottom so please give that a look. I hope I have helped inspire you with some new activities and ways of learning.
Theme days
Having a theme to your day or your week can make planning activites that little bit easier. You may ask what a theme day is, well let me explain. This could be anything from having a 'green day' when you all wear green, have green themed snacks, go on a scavenger hunt for items that are green, or have an activity with green animals such as dinosaurs. Themed days could also be things such as a pirate theme day. This could be setting up a pretend pirate ship in your living room and making eye patches. You could also go on a pirate hunt and find treasure around the house. This can be built into learning by searching for letters and making a word at the end or having objects hidden around to complete a puzzle. Theme days are great because the whole family can get involved and they can be adapted depending on the age and interests of the children. We recently had a holiday themed day. We made passports and boarding passes before going on a journey. We started it off by flying on a pretend plane to our destination. Throughout the day we completed different activites on our holiday. Such as a sightseeing bus around Barcelona (the garden), a paddle at the beach (water play) and of course we had to finish the day with an ice cream stop.
