  The Shark Game

This game is suitable for 2 year old all the way to older children. this can be played in a big open space such as the park or a garden or simply indoors. This game Is easy to play with just 2 people but is lots more fun when more people join in.

To set up this game someone will need to be the shark and the others the fish, the shark needs to stand in the middle of the space and the fish all in a line at one end of the space. The aim of the game is for the fish to run past the shark without the shark catching them, the shark is only allowed to move side to side. If there is only 2 of you when the fish gets caught they swap and become the shark, however if there is more then 2 of you then if a fish gets caught then they join the shark in the middle to make it harder for the remanding fish.

This game is great to get children active and encourage moving and dodging which all helps develop gross motor skills. It also helps with team work and turn taking skills which are all important to a child's development.

The Movement Game

The great thing about this game is it can be played anywhere, in the house, the park, or even waiting at a train station. It doesn't need any set up.

Think of different movements children will be able to do and then think of a number you will go up to. Explain to the children that when you shout out a number they have to move in a certain way. Here are some examples: 1- Jump like a frog, 2- Run like a cheetah, 3- Slither like a snake, 4- Stretch tall like a giraffe. Children can then take the lead and instruct you and others on how to move.

This game is great to keep children active and helps toddlers follow instructions and remember what each number means. It also helps to take on a role in through play A child can take charge and have a go at directing. Children will love this game and it will help them burn of extra energy too.

Name Game

This game will help with remembering the letters that make up a child’s name. This game can be played anywhere in the house or out and about on a walk or on a journey.

All children love a challenge and especially when it involves them and something special to them. With this game ask children to find objects in their environment that begin with each letter found in their name. For example when I am out on a walk I might find A- ant, N-nest, N-nettle bush, and A- Airplane. Children could even collect these objects if possible. Encourage helping each other out.

This Activity will help recognize letters and sounds that make up their name while having fun. It will also help them to understand objects in their environment.
